September’s AOK Newsletter
With August officially over and school coming back into session we are all getting ready for a new season at AOK. We look to continue transforming busy days of great projects into contributions to the Rochester community throughout September as we also move to bring about bigger and better things at AOK.
Thanks as always for your support which has allowed us to contribute to the causes of some of our favorite organizations Foodlink, Willow Center, CACGRoc, Urban League of Rochester, 540 West Main, Person Centered Housing Options, NAMI Rochester, ROC Rainbow Union, Restore SAS, Save the Children, 13thirty, March of Dimes, and the Humane Society!
We look forward to making more wonderful art for you and continuing to use that to help make this city and world a better place for us all. We are always thankful for your continued support of Axe of Kindness and hope you know just how much all these organizations appreciate it as well.
Thanks again from AOK!
Moving Forward
THE KEYS TO OUR FUTURE
We officially have the keys to the new home of Axe of Kindness and cannot wait to invite you all to visit. We will soon begin our renovations to get it ready to host and tattoo you in, and when we are done we look forward to welcoming you into the warmth of our new space. We are inching towards the point where we are ready to share the details with you all. Rest assured that we are not moving too far from where we are now, so you can still find us in one of Downtown Rochester's wonderful neighborhoods. We look forward to seeing you all at our new address soon!
Organization Highlight
LOLLYPOP FARM
Lollypop Farm, the Humane Society of Greater Rochester, has been helping animals and people since 1873. Support from the community enables over 160 staff members and more than 800 volunteers to care for around 10,000 animals each year and makes possible a variety of programs to address issues that contribute to the surrender of unwanted animals.
Together with our community, they better the lives of animals through justice, prevention, and life-saving care.
We are happy to be able to support Lollypop Farm this month and look to include them as one of the organizations we support each and every month going forward. Thank you for your support which helps us continue to do so for The Humane Society and so many others!
Speaking of that support…
Walk the Dog
BARKTOBER FEST
We are absolutely thrilled to be taking part in this year's Barktober Fest September 27 from 9am-3pm. Join us at Innovative Field, home of the Rochester Red Wings, for our area’s largest dog-friendly festival. With canine contests, raffles, live music, and more, it’s the most fun you can have helping pets in need. Swing by our booth, say hello, meet the crew, and maybe grab some of the goodies we'll have in tow.
Punk as Fu-ndamental
PUNK ROCK BOOK CLUB POST SHOW
Adrien had a great time hanging and applying temporary tattoos for the youth at Irondequoit Public Library's Punk Rock Book Club event. The kids showed they not only have a love for music and literature, but for tattoos as well. Check out a bit of the footage here!
We can't express enough gratitude for being asked to participate and look forward to the next time, as well as other events like this down the line. Thanks to everyone who stopped out in support and we hope to see you soon!
Walk-in Wednesday

Fall in to the shop September 17 and leave with a new addition to your collection! Join us for our monthly Walk-in Wednesday to grab an idea of your own mind, an image you already have picked out, peruse our library, or choose from any of our drawings ready to go just for you!
As always, please feel free to give us a call before swinging down, or to ask about walk-in availability whenever you happen to be free Tuesday-Saturday.
