August’s AOK Newsletter
July has been busy in a myriad of ways, not the least of which is how you have all kept us working with you and making our summer days even sunnier. We thank you for that as always! Stick with us below and find out what else we've had cooking, and what to expect from what is sure to be an, at the very least, equally busy August.
Thanks as always for your support which has allowed us to contribute to the causes of some of our favorite organizations Foodlink, Willow Center, CACGRoc, Urban League of Rochester, 540 West Main, Person Centered Housing Options, NAMI Rochester, ROC Rainbow Union, Restore SAS, Save the Children, 13thirty, and March of Dimes!
We look forward to making more wonderful art for you and continuing to use that to help make this city and world a better place for us all. We are always thankful for your continued support of Axe of Kindness and hope you know just how much all these organizations appreciate it as well.
Thanks again from AOK!

MOSS AND CLOVER
We are incredibly excited to welcome Moss and Clover to Rochester, and to AOK specifically! They both come to us from Duluth, MN where they co-owned Peach Tattoo. We are looking forward to the unique and phenomenal personalities and styles they each bring to the shop and tattooing at large. Click here to check out Moss's work and learn a little more about them, and here to scope Clover's and to learn a bit more about them as well. Additionally you can contact Moss here and Clover here.
Please join us in welcoming them when we open the doors on our new space! Which, speaking of...
It’s Official!
WE’RE MOVING!
We have found the new home of Axe of Kindness and cannot wait to invite you all to visit. We have some work to do to get it ready to host and tattoo you in, but we believe you will feel just as at home in the warmth of our new studio. Though we are not ready to share all of the details just yet, rest assured that we are not moving too far from where we are now, so you can still find us in one of Downtown Rochester's wonderful neighborhoods. We are all looking forward to seeing you in our new digs soon!
Second Saturday
LEA YOLANDA: ART OPENING
Our very own Lea is hanging work at the Bug Jar for you all to feast your eyes upon. Her unique, personal style will be on full display with new works full of the heart, soul, and passion she brings to everything she does. We are excited to take it all in for the first time and hope that you will join us. Lea's opening will take place at the Bug Jar this Saturday, August 9 from 8 PM-2 AM. Come along, bring a friend, and say hello!
Organization Highlight
OPEN HEART OUTLAWS
This month we received a special request to support a new organization, Open Heart Outlaws. They are a nonprofit 501(c)(3) dedicated to serving working-class families going through tough times. They aim to raise funds through sponsored miles during motorcycle riding events for Rochester residents at and below the poverty line, those struggling with housing, and those struggling with medical debt.
Their first event will be taking place this Saturday, August 9 from 5-9 PM. We will have some prizes in their raffles and you might just catch one or two of us there as well. If you do, don't be too shy to say hi!
We are happy to be able to include Open Heart Outlaws this month in addition to our list of usual organizations we are supporting. Thank you for your support which helps us continue to do so for OHO and so many others!

PUNK ROCK BOOK CLUB
To round out a busy August, Adrien will be participating in Punk Rock Book Club. This all ages event will take place on Saturday, August 30 from 5-8 PM. It is being run by the Irondequoit Public Library and will feature a reading of "The Unraveling: The Council of Crows", a story meant for middle grade kids around the ages of 8-14, by Karl Buechner of Earth Crisis. There will be free food and drinks from The Red Fern, and Ugly Duck Coffee, and Adrien will be representing AOK with free temporary tattoos for the participants. We hope to see you there!
